May I ask, speaking as a person who wants to write comics, why exactly do some artists leave so much space on their pages? Like the second panel is over the first, rather than to the side. Is that an artistic choice? Is it frowned upon to take up a large chunk of the page for the sake of making a panel bigger? I ask because I want to be able to use the most space on a page in order to avoid adding panels that could be on one page to another due to lack of space. Now obviously a page with 9 panels doesn’t need to take up so much space if the artist can draw a coherent image in such a small panel, but let’s say I wanted the artist to draw a 7 panel page, with 4 large panels with a decent amount of detail, and the remaining three being at the bottom that don’t need that much detail. Would it be possible? Or is taking up too much space on a page an amateur mistake? Forgive me if I made this a bit difficult. I can elaborate if needed.
